R.I.P. JORDAN BRAND

For the past 23 years (roughly as long as I have been alive) Nike’s Air Jordan has brought forth some of the greatest sneakers in the history of the world. However, for the last several years, Jordan Brand has been eroding, due to horrible ideas coinciding with awful marketing schemes and damn near pathetic quality of their products. However these shoes that I have posted, put the nail in the coffin for me. Jordan Brand has gotten so bad that it now has to fuse their classics with another classic (in this case the AF1) to sell a few pairs of kicks. Dispicable. Disgusting. Deplorable. I used to check for nearly every Jordan that popped up, now there are about two shoes a year that even spark my interest. R.I.P. to a once prominent brand of sneakers.

These shoes aren’t even worth typing out an obituary for. I’m heated.

After writing this blog I realized that I completely left off the biggest travesty of them all; The Air Jordan XXIII (23 for you idiots). These pieces of vomit and shoestring have combined to make the most disappointing shoe EVER! I had high hopes for the 23, seeing that it was supposed to pay homage to Jordan’s number as well as celebrate his legacy. Instead Jordan Brand gave us an signature all-over print, casino-carpeted looking fusion between and And One and the Starbury’s, only for 3 times the price – hot garbage to say the least. I understand that Jordan Brand has always been progressive and fashion forward, but these fall far short of the previous standards that have been set years before these ever released.  And to think, millions of dorks are going to be flossing these around town like there something special.

I’m done. I’d rather keep my money in the bank and collect interest than dress myself in Bozo the Clown’s wardrobe.

OMG!

Nike Air Force 1 Safari.  Time to put the hammer to my piggy bank b/c I’m sure they’re going to cost a grip.  I’m usually a hater to all the new Nike Hybrids, but I’ll make an exception to these.  Very rarely does Nike screw up anything Safari (one of the most underrated nikes in history), and these are damn near perfect.  To think that these will be rockable in a few months when the snow melts is perfect timing.

The Air Jordan VI Carmines!

I have been waiting patiently for a pair of VI’s now for years. The only pair I ever owned were in first grade (I was 6 when they first released in ‘91, 80’s babies stand up) so this to me is a great treat. The quality from the pics look decent, although the leather once again looks cheap. This however won’t do me justice until I actually see them in person. Jordan has been known to release great sample pics then shortcut there way to an awful final product. I’m crossing my fingers, otherwise they’ll be just another disappointment added to the list.
